This is HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE Homer Ledford mountain dulcimer, #4140, built in 1977. Homer Ledford was a premier dulcimer maker in Kentucky for many years, and is considered one of the foremost bluegrass musicians and dulcimer builders of the 20th century.
This dulcimer has a beautiful figured Walnut back with an inlay stripe down the center, and a Yellow Poplar top. The maker's mark is signed and numbered by Homer, and includes the inscription "150 yr old yellow poplar top." This dulcimer has wooden tuning pegs, and fine tuners for each string at the bridge. The 6 1/2 fret has been added previously. 26.5" VSL. Recently re-strung and tuned DAA. Case included.
